Here’s my story….I was at a stop sign (leaving my daughter’s school) turning r onto a hwy. There was a school bus in the r lane, turning into the st. I was leaving. I looked and then proceeded to turn into the r lane, I then made the attempt to go to the l lane, and what I assume happened is the other car was behind the bus; as the bus turned, they moved into the l lane and met me, who was trying to move l. I never saw them. I heard the horn, looked in the rearview and then tryed to get the heck out of the way. Our cars hit with her front psngr and my front panel drivers side.

The police and firemen came, they told me she was just shaken up like me, not hurt at all.

My Ins. faulted me. They fixed my car, totalled hers (00 for mine). She then claimed injury, hired tv lawyers, she’s finished 5 months of treatment, she was prior injured.
Now, she’s asking for k just for medical. I have K cov. I have a lot of assets. Not sure what to do. Very scared

I was in a car accident in 05. It’s been five years now. Just yesterday I accepted a ,000 dollar settlement. My medical bills are several times that amount. There is no way I can pay them off. After five years of court date after court date.. depositions.. paper filing and two lawyers. I’m sick of it. And even though I will have to live with my injuries for the rest of my life.. I’m sick of fighting and want to put this behind me. So I accepted. My lawyers told me in the beginning to expect 0,000 or more due to my injuries and the nature of the accident. But the case got more and more twisted as time went on and now the insurance company just wants to take me to court.. where I could walk away with nothing.

This is my question. . I kind of asked my lawyer this. He said that the only bill that I HAD to pay from the settlement was to a hospital due to a lien? Then I would be down near ,000.

Anyways. I’m twenty-one years old. And don’t see how I am ever going to get these bills paid. My question is:

Can I spend the money and then file for bankruptcy? Or would that make me ineligible?

I want to use the money for schooling and to fix up my parents house. I don’t think it’s wrong of me to do such a thing. I have suffered for five years now with major back injuries and severe PTSD. I deserve to use that money how I please.. right?

Let me edit something. Before I ever looked into a lawyer the insurance company offered me ,000 dollars. I then began to look for a lawyer. When I found one and retained him. It was in the contract that his cut would not leave me with anything less than ,000 dollars. So he is actually only going to get ,000 dollars from the settlement. The lein from one of the hospitals is ,000 dollars. That leaves me with a check for ,000 dollars. My question is.. if I spend the money can I file for bankruptcy? I haven’t signed the papers yet. The problem with this whole case was that my lawyer hasn’t been able to prove that the farmer was negligent. His cows got out of their pasture and .. in a vehicle.. I hit one. It came through the windshield and smothered me. Most of my bills are for PTSD.. which i’ve been told is hard to sell to a jury.

I’m a 45 year female. I had a accidents at work. I’ve had three MRIs since the accidents. I have a pinched nerve and herniated disk in the middle of my back. I also have a bulging disk in my neck. I haven’t got the results back from my lower back. I do have a lawyer and I’m still fighting Workmen’s Comp. I take pain medication. I’ve been to physical therapy, quite often. Sometimes, my legs feels like they go out on me. I can’t go back to work, because my pain is to imbearible. My life hasn’t been the same since all of this. Has anyone else recieved a claim from this type of injury? If so, what’s the approximate amount you recieved?

now he has to file a personal injury claim with the other drivers insurance. she turned left into his car. do u know settlement amounts for similar cases? should he hire a lawyer?

I signed medical release forms for a lawyer regarding a car accident. Will they be able to get my psychology notes that I consider very private and have nothing to do with my injuries. They are held at the same clinic and are about 10 years old!

My uncle was without a job and hence without insurance. He had a minor fender bender with someone. He offered to pay for the damage right there but the lady refused her offer. He was given a ticket and court date for causing the accident and for no insurance. He did go to the court and had to pay a fine for not having insurance. The other party did not show up to the court. Four months later, out of no where he got a call from a lawyer threatening to sue him if he didn’t pay ridiculous amount of 00. Uncle still doesn’t have a job but I loaned him 00 to cover the minor damages to the car and additional fees. Lawyer refused to take the offer and are now threatening him with all sorts of stuff like suspending his license and suing him. We have no problem paying for the damage to her car but seems like they are trying to take advantage of him. No one had any injuries also. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and TIA.

This November it will be two years since I injured my knee. I was released from the doctor after surgery and a year of physical therapy. The doc. released me with restrictions with no prolonged standing, lifting, standing,squatting,kneeling, and ect…. I’ve been collecting comp(paycheck) which is 80% of my union wage. THe doctor says I’m on borrow time until a knee replacement which Im to young to have done. Right now Im with Vocational Rehibilatation and Michigna Dept. Labor with a case worker. He has been trying to find a job for me that make about the same as my old job. He has already told workers comp that I am and should get schooling. Still havent had any luck with job yet because of my restrictions. The UNION has set me up with a great lawyer. He made an offer less then a year ago of about 200k to workers comp(Accident Fund). Im still collecting a check but HOW LONG WILL THIS GO ON?????? PS. ( This is the husband writting)

I was in a car accident with this guy. He is suing me for the damages to his car and bodily injuries. I know I can’t afford a lawyer nor to pay him.
