Awhile ago I was involved in a three car crash. I was traveling east bound and approached an intersection and crossed after it went green. A car traveling north hits my passenger side and spins my car into traffic going west bound and my backend gets hit from on coming traffic. My girlfriend was in the passenger seat when this happened. A witness going southbound calls the police and ambulence for us. After I gave my statement to the officer he lets me go with my girlfriend to the hospital. She gave her statement later at the hospital. Everything was ok until I saw the police report later saying I was at fault because the individual in the third car that my backend hit said I ran the light while she was traveling west bound opposite of me. The person that hits me said he was going on his green. Now I was wondering why thier statements weight more then that of me and my girlfriends when we both stated going on the green. The report didn’t even have the statement of the witness that stopped to call for us because I saw the officer talk to him and wrote his name down. Should I even bother getting an attorney? My girlfriends medical bills total over 000 and she doesn’t have health insurance. Can she sue me? Or am I screwed because the guy that hit me is filing damage claims agaisnt me too. I do have car insurance and have already reported this to them. Thanks in advance for any help.

this attorney has been handleling my case ,it was a car accident.he has taken well over 2yrs.to resolve this case and still nothing on top off that i received a letter from the court house stating that I did not show up to a hearing and that they are going to rule in the other parties behalf.

My mom was involved in an auto accident in Dec.08. She was pinned between 2 cars and had severe permanent injuries. The other driver was drunk and uninsured. When we signed the retainer with the lawyer we specifically stated that he will only get his 1/3 AFTER all bills has been taken care of. We agreed that he will uses the 20k medical settlement offeree by our insurance to negogiate with medical providers while the remaining 100k of injury settlement will be split between the 2 of us. however, as soon as we signed the settlement release he took his portion right away(,333.00) and left us with (66,……,) saying since medical bills exceeded over 200k there might be a chance that we have to use our part of the settlement to pay for medical providers. It has been about 27 months and we both has gotten our part of the 100k but the separate 20k is still in his hands saying he is still negotiating. Does it usually take this long? is it possible he’s also keeping that portion and ignoring our debt to the medical providers? We are still constantly receiving collection letters. What would happen if it continues to go on unpaid?

I was headed to grab lunch and went through an intersection on a green light, some ass ran the redlight smashing into me. He was very nice at the time of the accident and because he was an ‘older’ man, I did not want to make the situation even worse, so I didn’t reinforce the fact that he ran the red light and not me. We exchanged info and he gave me his insurance info and business card. He said, "If you have any problems with anything, give me a call."

Well, when I called his insurance about 30 min later, he had already called and told them I ran the red light. Long story short, I am stuck with the bill for my car (00+ ) and he walked away with barely a scratch on his truck! Oh, and by the way… he is a defense attorney and owns his own firm… so what can I legally do in a situation like this??
A police officer did drive by after the accident. The guy waved him down, and he came over. He said, because it was raining, the city was on ’slick streets alert and unless we were injured, there was nothing he could do and then he left without even leaving a name or card. And I did call my insurance first and they are well aware of the situation and are taking my side. But that still leaves me out the deductible, the cost of renting a car while mine was in the shop and a decent amount of missed work! I looked for witnesses, found none, searched for cameras, found none. And nobody in the surrounding area saw it that I could find. Sounds like I am out of luck. What an &@!*#!!

I didn’t get my license taken away at the scene but can they still take it away? Will I get it taken away? What can I do to prevent that. No one was injured, and both cars are pretty damaged.

On the first accident I was injured in the back, and I sometimes still feel pain and on this second accident, my car is totalled and I am hurt again. One of the attorney told me that my case is weaker the second time because I had a previous case (the last case is pending) and I the injuries in this accident could be linked to previous accident.
So what should I do any suggestion. I am in florida.

I was in a car accident in December 2006, and my case is still not settled. Why does it all take so long?

I was involved in a car accident in May ‘07. I didn’t have insurance and I still do not (I live in Wisconsin and it is not required by law to have auto insurance). I gave the woman all of my information and I received a phone call from her insurance company that week as she went to the hospital. I hit her from a complete stop almost immediately as I put my foot on the gas (in my opinion, nothing that would need hospitalization). She had some damage to her bumper. After hearing from her insurance company, they told me they would call with further information. I have heard nothing from them until today (October 22), via a letter in which they are asking for collections for damages. It’s 5 months later! Can someone actually do this and what can I do?? I’m 23, I don’t have a lot of money and am pretty broke right now. I emailed a few attorneys asking them the same question, but I wanted to get some answers from anyone who has been through the same situation.
