ok, so it was a car accident and my attorney is working on my insurance settlement. It was through uninsured motorist coverage of mine so my limit was 30,000 per person. My medical bills when i added them up from the papers from the hospital(s) and doctors and surgeons…came up to about ,800.I had an 80/20 health insurance policy but i also had an arisa policy? i guess where ihave to reimburse my health insurance for their costs because it was due to an accident. whatever!! i dont get it but anyways… my lawyer told me today that the people that were taking care of getting the money back from my settlement for my health insurance are only asking for ,150.17 but they were billed ,000…(?) and then they told me that they are trying to get the fee waived… and then my costs for my 20% of my bills should be covered by my deductible… (?) does thsi make any sense to anybody? i though for sure i would walk away from this accident with absoltely no money at all….. cont…..
buti was told today by my attorney that after my bills are paid and he has collected is fee i would walk away with about 1/3 of my settlement….. how in the freak is that possible? i mean im not complaining by any means whatso ever..but i mean.. really how?

I had a bad car accident a few months back. The woman who hit me ran a red light. It caused severe back injuries that I’m still feeling to this day. She happens to be the state representatives wife. I’ve called every lawyer in my town, I’ve called just about every lawyer in my state which happens to be Kentucky. They would either tell me its a conflict of interest or they would simply say "no way". I even called a lawyer from Connecticut and he wont even take the case. I have a copy of the police report stating it was clearly her fault, but for some reason no lawyer I have talked to will help me. She can’t even be served she refuses to take the papers and NOTHING is being done about it. I need a lawyer with some backbone. I’m at the end of my rope. What else can I do? Who can I call about this? I even called the local paper and they refuse to run the story. I need HELP.

After i was done parking my car in a tight spot (edgwater-chicago) , i see this person coming up to me checking the bumper of the minivan ahead of me and telling me that he was a sheriff and he will make pay for it (for what exactly , i have no clue !!) so i had a good laugh about it , and then he pulled some kind of ID (yellow with a blue stripe) all i remembered it was written cook county in it) and after that he said he was a lawyer as well which was true because i goggled his name .
after the cops came he DENIED saying he was a sheriff so we exchanged information for a car accident report .
i have all his information’s and i really wanna file a police report for impersonating a police officer and call the bar association for misconduct while off duty .
Any advices how to properly do that ? thank you.

Make a long story short! I was in a car accident in September 2009. I had some pretty nasty injuries. I hired a lawyer right off the back that my family member referred me too. She said he did well by her so I retained him. Anyways….I finished therapy and my package went in to the insurance company by December. Months went by and no response to the insurance company. My lawyer became more and more evasive. Recently I wrote him a letter stating that I was unhappy and I was seriously considering moving on. He called me back right away and stated that my settlement offer came and the insurance only offered ,000. I asked him when did it come in and he refused to tell me. Now…the Man who hit me was driving a rental car and he was smart and purchased the rentals insurance and didnt use his own. The Max on his policy is ,000. I told my lawyer that he needs to aask for the ask and negotiate my medical expenses with the Doctors who treated me. My Med Bills are ,000 and these are his affiliates. I made it clear to my lawyer that he should negotiate my bills and ask the insurance company for the Max on the policy. He toldme that the insurance company said they will not pay a cent more. Weeks later I wrote another letter and he called me back and said he got in touch with the man who hit me and forced him to give him his actual insurance information (for his own car). My lawyer said that he is going to file a law suit on his insurance company. I thought to myself…how is he going to do that. This man hit me with a rental not his own car so how does his insurance company have anything to do with that? The man lives in California I live in Virgina. The man was his visiting on business. My gut is tellling me to run from this laywer. Late in the game like this I don’t think its wise for me to get another lawyer (more fees associated), plus in VA my lawyer could put a lien on my case for all the work he’s done.. I just think I need to kinda force him to settle and stop playing with me. Someone who is knowledgable…please help! I’m considering going to a legal clinic. I just don’t believe my lawyer could sue the guys insurance company when he used a rental and purchased rental insurance and didn’t use his own. Should I write my lawyer a very firm letter or just report him to the bar Assc. for failing to communicate, and failure to report my settlement came through? Help…I’m a college student and unemployed. All these medical bills could compromise my credit score, plus I want my money. This is all draining and ridiculous.

a week ago i was in a car accident. i was @ a light and mine turned green, so obviously i started driving. a semi ran his red light the same time i took off and he ended up hitting my car! i went to the hospital, cause my neck hurt and i have some issues now with my eyesight and hearing. i got the police report the other day and it states that the driver of the semi addmitted to having faulty breaks. his rear air breaks were out and he addmitted running the red light. my dad has talked to my insurance company, but i havent talked to either of the insurance companies. im only 19 and i really am not sure what to do, cus my car is now totalled and you have to be 25 to have a rental car and im having to walk to work now. who should a talk to? should i go ahead and talk to an attorney or just file a claim with the other guys insurance??? please help!!

i was in a vehicle with a friend and was hit by another car it hurt me in the wreck (but didnt do much to the car) i was thrown into the dash causing whiplash. the ambulance had to take me to the E.R and i was released and has to attend physical therapy for a couple of weeks bc of the knots in my back and all that and i had a total of ,600 in medical bills. my attorney started working on my case back in january when it happend. the other car was a rental car so he had to sue the rental insurance. im still waiting for my settlement money. the attorney said the insurance place has an offer of ,000. should this be the appropriate amount or should i be entitled to more? i miss lots of school due to this and lost my credits so i cant graduate with the rest of the class. is this a fair amount?

I live in Massachusetts, USA. My attorney who is taking my case in a car accident is not donig his job. He does not return calls to the billing departments when they need to talk to him. We are at the end of this process almost ready to send the "package" or demand letter as it is called to the car insurace for settlement. This attorney is a pain in the neck. My car accident related bills are about to send me to collection. I want to know if I can change attorney at this point of the claim? Will he still want to get paid? I live in Massachusetts where we have no fault insurance. Thanks.

Three years ago my wife had a car accident in which she turned in front of a speeding car, so fault is split. A friend of hers, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was injured. She was already disable, with her brother having power of attorney, so he filed a lawsuit on her behalf.

Two months after the accident I sent my wife away, because of abuse (thrown hot coffee) as a result if being bipolar and not taking her medication. She had to learn on her own that taking her medication had to be life choice she had to live with. She is now staying on her medication and is ready to come back, but she has been "served" with the lawsuit papers. She receives SSD because of the illness, so she has nothing they can take.

If she moves back, can they add me to the lawsuit and go after my income?
She is living in Washington, while I live in Kansas City.
Her brother filed because the medical expenses exceded the maximum of my insurance, even though it was also covered by Medicare. I suspect he is also hoping to get something for pain and suffering. I still lived in the same building as her until last June. She has no longer term problems from the injuries.
