I was in a car accident and received a ticket for turning left in approaching traffic. I was driving my fiance’s car, when he called his insurance company we found out the insurance had lapsed by 2 weeks( he pays every 6 months). He had forgot that the insurance was due again. He received a letter today from an attorney and I don’t know where he or myself stand legally. Please someone help.
He reinstated his insurance the day after the accident.

You have no stance legally or otherwise. You and your fiance’ are fully liable. You’d best get your own lawyer. You are about to be sued.

You will have to cover all the expenses of the other party connected to the accident. You might be also fined for not having an insurance and you will have to get the insurance to be able to drive again.

Well you say it’s your fault, without insurance it is automatically your fault anyways, if you didn’t get a ticket for no insurance you got lucky, same thing happened to me and i ignored it, was getting calls from her insurance company, the bill was $6.000, they might make a deal with you for payments till its payed off, finally my uncle a lawyer talked to them and we settled on $1000., $100.00 payments, but that was a long time ago, but that’s why people have uninsured motorist insurance.

you will have to cover all the expenses of the other person and in addition you will probably be fined and might get your license suspended.

Also you will have to get the insurance.

since he restarted his insurance the day after You should be able to report the accident to your insurance company and see what they can do. I would think since you didn’t have insurance when the accident occurred you might face a higher co pay with your insurance but you should be good to go. Make sure you state that you missed the payment due date and show your receipt. Good luck

who ever the car is registered to is responsible for it,but you may be sued, anyway the insurance should have had a grace period that would have covered two weeks

if he reinstated the insurance 1 day after the accident, he is covered for any accident from that date forward period.

he was uninsured when this accident happened. the other lawyer will seek reimbursement for the car damages and injuries. the only reason for the lawyer is that they are claiming injuries.

i bet you he will never forget to pay his insurance again after this.

                      good luck
