in a car accident 3yrs. ago i was not driving. i need leagal advice.?

was in car accident the driver had liabilaty insurance only. was in hospitaly for one week the bill is 115,000.00 and some change. got a lawyer and he got a check from the insurance company for 15,000.00 he said that he gets 5 of it and he will try to get the hospital to accept 5 and i get the rest. dose this sound right or should i be looking for another lawyer . and do i owe sthat one any thing if i just drop the case and take my money and run. if i do owe how do i ask him to prove his bill and how can i make sure it is all true.
i was the passenger. got lawyer when i got out of the hospital. got in caontact with the incurance company to get my monies. they daid that the hospital bill was on me. at that time i got a lawyer to deal with the hospital.he i had the 15,000.00 sent to him. now ever time i ask him to stop and cut me a check he some how talks me out of it. at tis point i dont catr no more just want the monies . 3 yrs is a long time to
the driver hit a tree on a rainy day no damage to the tree or any other surrounding things. the driver lost her car and all of her hospital bills were paid . i was told for that those bills were paid cause the driver only stayed one day

We’re not getting a full rounded picture of your situation here:
1) Who was at fault?
2) Were you a passenger or driving another vehicle?
3) Did you retain a lawyer immediately…..or did you recently hire one when the hospital bill grew to it’s current amount, due to late fees attached??
I’m really focusing on question #3, because that’s what your situation is sounding like: You waited till just recently to have an attorney get a settlement check. Problem is, the amount isn’t covering the bill—and it looks like YOU may have to hand over your $15k and pay the rest.
Saying your lawyer is going to try to negotiate w/ the hospital to bring the bill down does sound like you waited way too long to clear this matter.
You can contact the insurance company and request they send directly to you copies of the settlement made and check posted to your attorney……that might have some msyteries solved.
Don’t be surprised if lawyer phones you to say he’s going to fight the hospital in court—and it’s gonna cost you an additional $5k
