My husband was making a left hand turn in his work truck and was rear-ended by another vehicle, which was then rear ended by another vehicle. The first vehicle to hit my husband said there was smoke in the air so he suddenly couldn’t see. The police sent my husband on his way right away as it was obviously not his fault. This was two years ago. Now he just received a court summons from the first vehicles court/lawyer that he is sueing my husband, my husband employer, the second cars driver and his employer. The person giving the summons said to give it to his insurance company within 20 days. But, it wasn’t my husbands fault and it wasn’t my husbands vehicle, it was his work vehicle. Not sure what to do. If he doesn’t respond he is considered guilty and will be charged to pay the 0,000 they want.
My husband was not given a ticket and his work truck was brand new and insured.

My mom was involved in an auto accident in Dec.08. She was pinned between 2 cars and had severe permanent injuries. The other driver was drunk and uninsured. When we signed the retainer with the lawyer we specifically stated that he will only get his 1/3 AFTER all bills has been taken care of. We agreed that he will uses the 20k medical settlement offeree by our insurance to negogiate with medical providers while the remaining 100k of injury settlement will be split between the 2 of us. however, as soon as we signed the settlement release he took his portion right away(,333.00) and left us with (66,……,) saying since medical bills exceeded over 200k there might be a chance that we have to use our part of the settlement to pay for medical providers. It has been about 27 months and we both has gotten our part of the 100k but the separate 20k is still in his hands saying he is still negotiating. Does it usually take this long? is it possible he’s also keeping that portion and ignoring our debt to the medical providers? We are still constantly receiving collection letters. What would happen if it continues to go on unpaid?

I was involved in an non-collision accident with a city bus in which the bus had to break suddenly and a passenger may have been injured in a fall within. The fault is in a grey area, but the individual’s lawyer seems to think they have the benefit of the doubt. This was years ago and I don’t have car insurance anymore. Found a lawyer on Yellowpages (one with a large ad) and he seemed thrilled to take the case. Well, after the other party’s insurance denied the claim, he dropped me like a bad habit.

I’ve been calling around to other lawyers (also with large ads) and they seem interested at first but when I tell them about being denied by the insurer, they all say we’ll call you back after discussing it with our lawyers and then never do. Some even ask for photos of the accident and after I email them they never call back.

So am I getting the "brush off"?

Or should I call them back and ask what’s up?

I was involved in a car accident about a year ago. My damages to my car were ,000. My medical bills were ,000. I was hit with a truck from the back and pretty much the whole trunk of my car is gone, I had a passenger with me and we both suffer from neck and back and leg injures. The injures are not really bad but bothersome, when the insurance adjuster called me they said that the other driver had coverage of maximum of 00, and I believe the car is totaled and what about the yard storage fees and my medical bill. The party who hit our vehicle, hit us from behind. He was sited as "at fault" by the police officer who responded to the emergency call.

There were 4 of us in the car at the time… Myself, my two kids and my nephew.

Thankfully the damages to my vehicle were fairly inexpensive (0 to fix the rear bumper where I was hit from behind) however the kids immediately complained of being hurt and were transported to the local Children’s Hospital from the scene of the accident.

After almost 3 months of going the Chiropractor we have now completed our treatment and the final totals of our medical expenses are listed as follows:

Myself ,440 Chiro + 0 ER = ,340
Kid #1 ,440 Chiro + ,100 ER = ,540
Kid #2 ,700 Chiro + 0 ER = ,500
TOTAL ,380

Our lawyer (who has been horrible to work with) is asking for ,000 A PIECE, however he has informed me that we won’t recieve that amount totally.

How much can I realistically expect and how long should it take?

I’VE READ ALOT OF POST ON HERE AND I’D LIKE TO KNOW ARE THERE ANY INSTANCES WHERE THIS PROCESS ISN’T AS LENGTHY? ARE THEY PEOPLE WHO’VE HAD SATISFACTORY EXPERIENCES WITH THESE SETTLEMENTS – PERHAPS IN JUST A FEW WEEKS?
