I was in a car accident with my friend 5 months. I take full resposibility. We were laughing and joking and when I went out from the stop sign ( I stopped and looked once, but didn’t look again. stupid move, I know), I got hit on my door and ended up breaking my pelvis in 3 places, sprained my wrist, and my hip and pelvis disconnected. They had to reattach it with a metal rod. The driver in the other car was not hurt at all and did not go to the hospital. I was charged with "failure to yield the right of way" and had to go to drivers school. I just want to move on! I pay for my mistake and beat myself up about it everyday. I feel so guilty and this isn’t helping. This is money coming out of my mom’s pocket and because of my injuries, I can’t get a job and help her out. Can they sue me or make a claim? They already tried to claim on their insurance, but they didn’t get any money because their insurance refused for some reason. Do they have a valid lawsuit? Can I hire a lawyer or something?

Usually what percentage of money will a car accident attorney take if they win the case for you?

I hit a parked car while making a U Turn a few months back. I was NOT filed a ticket, i called my insurance company and they handeled the case with the other parties, then a few days later i got a call from the other parties telling me they wanted more money then the car insurance was giving them…they eventually sued me for 1500 in small claims, they didint show up so the case was dropped. Eventually i got a summons in the mail saying that their insurance company is suing me on behalf of them for 3700! My insurance company appointed me a good lawyer from what i read online but my question is that if we do loose the case will i have to pay the 3700 or will my insurance…this is happening in illinois by the way and it is in small claims court.

I know an old man who has been on disability since 1970 for a major head injury. He was in a car accident with his son reciently and was in ICU for two weeks. Unfortunatly altough he had an attorney he accepted a small settlement from the insurance company and I would like to advise him as to how he can keep that money safe from creditors and social security.

My daughter was hurt in an motor vehicle accident on febuaury 26th of this year and the guy that hit us passed away. Her ICU bill is 5,000 and he only had 25/50. He has no accetts and I only had 20/40 in under insured. I feel that this is not fair and some one should have to help with the bills. She was in a wheel chair for a while and is now starting to walk. She has damage to her back that will NEVER heal and the ,000 does not even cover the other 3 times she was hospitalized. What can I do?
HE HAS NOTHING NO STOCKS…NO CARS NOTHING…. I have insurance but like I said it only covers ,00 and his insurance notified me that he only has ,00 dollars worth of coverage….I have no idea what to do..
Also the accident was his fault he crossed over the lines and was wasted or something…. I had no clue that you could get stuck like this my daughter has to suffer…. it so aint fair and as many of you are saying you should of had more coverage but I am disabled and have a limited income so more coverage is more money.

I was in a car accident december 20th and got injured. My auto insurance policy said they cover up to 15,000$ in injuries for this case. I have spent on medical bills etc…already 14,000$. If I go over 15,000$, am I going to lose money from my settlement? I asked my lawyer and she said I might and she will call me and get back to me, but my lawyer is always busy and never calls me back, I’ve tried getting in contact with her for the past week and she is always too busy. So does anyone know if i will lose money off my settlement?

My truck was hit while I was asleep and I only woke up to my nieghbor banging on my door to let me know he saw it happen. Well the car that hit my truck couldn’t drive anymore so he left it parked took the keys and ran off. I called the cops as soon as my nieghbor woke me up and they came out but on the police report all they have on there is the guys name, address, VIN and tag number and no insurance info. I tried calling my insurance rep. and he told me he couldn’t help me find out. The car is registered PA, and it happened in MD so I called the PA MVA and they told me they couldn’t help me either. I tried looking up his info on the internet and even called a lawyer in which the lawyer told me my ins. rep. should be helping me find out, but no 1 is. I need help finding out how I can get his insurance info. that no one is willing to help find out? i also have he had a passanger in his car and her name is on the report but i was told if i called her then i could be charged w/harasment
So am I completely out of my deductible that I had to pay? And what about the money that my ins co. is out of for paying the rest of the damage? I never had to file a claim before and this was my first one since I have had insurance in the past 5 years and I don’t have tickets or anything so why isn’t my insurance not willing to help me or trying to? And I think it bugs me the most is because I just bought a brand new truck 2 months ago and someone had hit it and had the nerve to just run off.

I was a passenger in a limo and we got into a bad crash, my bills are huge. It turns out the company doesn’t have insurance (it is illegal) and my lawyer wants me to sue my own insurance instead of suing the owners of the company personally and putting a lean against their property. I have wonderful medical insurance and they have covered a great deal but there is a lot that is remaining and that I lost personally (wages, etc). I personally think that the lawyer is in it for themselves (ie suing my car insurance will give them the money a lot faster). But I am certainly no legal professional

When I was 13, I was in a small car accident involving other people. I was the most injured out of everyone, and luckily no one died. My parents went to a lawyer and got money out of the deal. I really had no idea that I was going to get money from this but whatever. Now, 6 years later, I’m turning 19 in less than a month and that money is somewhere in the bank system. The thing is, the money is in this disc (? I have no idea what that is but that’s what my parents call it), and I can only access the money when that disc opens up a time slot I guess? So what I’m wondering is, now that I’ve been 18, can I access the money regardless of the disc thingy?
