In 2008 my friend was driving and I was in the back seat. Their was a brown out on the street and the traffic light was flashing red. She did not stop and ran the light. She T-boned a truck and we spun out and she totaled her car. I hit my head very hard and was actually knocked unconcous temporarily. We were sent to the hospital ( I was sent with a neck brace on a stretcher ) We were at the hospital for hours and they put me through a cat scan. They sent me home with the brace and gave me 2 tylonols. Over the past year and a half the pain in my neck has been getting worse and has affected my work and my sleep. My primary care has reffered me to see a physical therapist. I have not been able to seek further medical help because I work full time. The other reason being that my friend’s insurance company wants me to pay out of pocket and then be reimburced for the expences while "in treatment" I unfortunately, don’t have that kind of money. The claims adjuster has outright neglected my phone calls and now the debt collectors have sent my debt to a lawyer. I haven’t even been able to see all of my collective expences so far because no one will give me a straight answer on what I owe.
What do I do now?
The claims adjuster for my friends insurance company just sent me a settlement paper. with a $$ amount on it. With nothing to back up the amount.
She never discussed it with me and since she sent the paperwork the adjuster still won’t return my calls.
The debt has already gone on my credit. and I want it removed.

at this point i would find a good lawyer they want you to pay up front so they can try to get out of paying your bills

Lawyer, scream, shout, whine loudly, I agree the insurance co is trying to screw you.
